Mood Board: Shamrock

It's officially pisces season, and with that comes spring showers and shamrock shuffles. As a pisces baby myself, this is one of my favorite times of the year, and no, it's not just because it's my birthday month. March means warmer temperatures, budding spring flowers and the end of grey winter skies. As we head into spring, we kick off the warm weather with St. Patrick's Day festivities, and the streets flood with pops of green.

In Chicago, March brings a flurry of St. Patrick's Day activities – the river is dyed green and the streets flood with joyful bar crawls and parades. While items in the shade shamrock green are typically few and far between in my wardrobe, this is the one time of year where I start frantically looking for the hue. While many partygoers opt for a simple "kiss me, I'm Irish" t-shirt, I always look for items that are on-trend and re-wearable.

One of the best ways to incorporate green into your wardrobe is through accessories. If you're like me and tend to wear neutral colors, it's easy to throw on a emerald purse or pair of heels to give a pop to your outfit. Another trend this winter was also fur coats – something that totally can be done in a green hue.

Actually, the more I think about it, the easier it is to add green into your wardrobe in a fashionable way. For instance, camo print has been in style for the last few years, and incorporating the print is a quick way to add green to your look. Also, military-style jackets are on-trend with the menswear style and are an easy way to add a little edge to your style.

While I already know I'll be wearing this Free People military jacket to my St. Patrick's day festivities (which is also my birthday weekend!), I've linked a ton of other shamrock items below to jumpstart your shopping. The straight leg pants are already in my cart and will be perfect for the transition to summer.
