Last Minute Graduation Dress Guide

May means graduation season, and while you study for finals, check the last few things off your college bucket list and start packing your bags, sometimes preparation for graduation day falls through the cracks. When I graduated last year (you read that right, I really did graduate), graduation day always felt far away, like I had a lot of time to prepare. Though this was all wishful thinking and hopeless denial that it was coming time to be an "adult," I wish I had prepared in advance for my outfit on graduation day. If you're like me and left your graduation planning until last minute, let me help you pull together the perfect look just in time for the big day.

For graduation, I quickly found the pictured pink dress (yup, that's me – the girl who forgot to take the hairband off her wrist) last minute at Urban Outfitters. It arrived last minute, and though I wasn't obsessed, it fit and that's all I could really hope for. However, the color I saw most people wear to graduation was white, and I really wish I did too. If I could do it all over again this year, I would probably wear this white dress from Free People. It's cute and, most importantly, versatile enough to wear again throughout the summer. My number one tip – only buy a dress you will wear again!

Beyond white dresses, I also love florals and pastels. Basically, anything but black! I know – that's a shocking statement coming from me, but even though some of you may feel like you're in mourning at graduation, it's a happy day and you should dress the part! For floral dresses, I love this one (comes in tons of different prints and is on sale!), this one, and this one. For more pastel colored dresses, I like this one, and my favorite, this one.

Whether you're looking for a traditional white dress or something with more of a pop, I've linked a variety of dresses below that will hopefully give you some inspiration for this special day. What I love most about all of them is that they are also great summer dresses, and you can never have enough dresses for the warm weather ahead of us! And to all those graduating – I hope you enjoy and appreciate this major accomplishment and are looking forward to the bright future ahead of you. But, if you're in need of major retail therapy, happy shopping!
